The children are falling prey to various dangers like molestation, sexual abuse, rapes at very young age in today’s society. “4 year old molested in the school bus”, “12 year old abused by neighbour”….. News headlines such as these have sent shivers down our spine. They make us angry and also make us feel very helpless as we do not know how to prevent such an incident from happening to our child. In order to create awareness and help us deal with such a difficult, sensitive but very important topic, the Rotary Club of Panvel invited renowned Child Psychiatrist Dr. Dipti S. Shah on 31st Aug. 2013, Saturday to address the parents of C.K.T. School’s Pre-primary and Primary sections. President Rotarian Nanak Rajani welcomed all the parents and gave information about Rotary. Project director Rotarian Sunil Lagate explained the need for this project. Chairman of Education committee Rotarian Swaroop Mhatre, Secretary Varun Govarikar and many Rotarians and Anns were present. Dr. Dipti Shah has been working in the field of Child Mental Health for more than 10 years. She conducted two sessions on how to talk about sex education to children. The first session started at 10 am in Hindi followed by a seminar on the same in Marathi. Around 800 parents attended the workshop and had their queries answered.
