PANVEL SWATCHCHATA ABIYAN OF ROTARY CLUB OF PANVEL JOINT PROJECT WITH PANVEL MUNICIPALITY INAUGURATION ON 2ND OCTOBER 2012. (GROUP B) BACKGROUND:- During avoidable blindness project i.e. final quiz competition, our service project Director talked with Chief Guest Prashant Thakur MLA about his plans of Panvel Swatchata Abiyan. Shri Prashant Sheth Thakur immediately picked up the theme and with several rounds of discussions launched this programme as joint programme of Rotary Club of Panvel and Panvel Municipality. INAUGURATION:- The programme was inaugurated by Prashant Sheth Thakur and President of Panvel municipality all corporators, near about 30 Rotarians were present. Our senior Rotarian PP Govind Gune was on Dias as reliever to president and donated RS.100000/- for this project. The programme was conducted by service project director P.P.Sudhir (Rajabhau ) Gupte. During this inauguration it was decided to implement this project on continuous basis. CLEANSHIP OF PANVEL. Initially the clean ship ( Swatchata ) commenced with ward by ward and work undertaken was as follows:- 1. Debris lying on various open plots was removed by engaging JCB. 2. Gutters were clean and mended as necessary. 3. Complete garbage was removed. 4. Monsoon weeds / grass was being clean. RESULTS:- Area was cleaned but from next day again Panvelkars commenced work of uncivilized dumping was discouraging. MEETINGS WITH VARIOUS SECTIONS:- Panvel municipality president and CEO jointly held meeting Rotary Club of Panvel with various segments as follows:- · Plastic bags vendors and various merchants . They were requested not be use plastic bags of 50 microns and less. · Medical Practitioner :- ( Our DG Dr.Girish G.Gune attend the meeting ) . They were requested to maintain clean ship in hospitals etc. · Hotel owners : They were requested to dispose wet garbage in garbage van instead of throwing for stray dogs. · Street hawkers :- Were requested maintain their area clean and not to use plastic bags of below 50 microns. · Builders – No body turned up. PROCESS DECISIONS:- · Impose fines higher than RS.500/-. · Putting notices on each society doors. · Banners display. · Strict control over Ghanta Van contractor. SOCIETY MEETING:- On 14th Oct.2012 society members of Atavane plots societies were called by service project director and near about 50 members of different societies / Bungalow / Hospital were present along with 10 Rotarians & three corporators of the area committee was formed and decided as follows:- · No garbage disposal. · Rain drains / Gutters would be maintained clean ( corporators to be informed ) · One colour to all compound walls. · Flower pots at various places. · Stray dogs to be removed. · Watchmen for security of area. It was agreed. The comments of some of the members were overwhelming………we are interested as Rotary is steering things. DATE / MONTH / YEAR :- From 2nd Oct. 2012………….continuous . Duration :- Continuous Project. Beneficiaries : All Panvelkars in general. Number of TV channels : All channels has given publicity including all papers. This is joint project with municipality.
